Overview

Soil and soil-related issues are impactful in an astonishing number of construction claims and lawsuits. Are construction delays costing your client money? Is soil a factor? If your client has a construction-related lawsuit and is a general contractor, grading contractor, structural engineer, architect, civil designer, inspection company, soil may be related to the claim. Were the soils considered properly during design? It is a tangled web woven on a construction site, given the interaction between prime and subcontractors, inspection duties, duty to protect, control of the site, duty of design professionals, etc.

You Will Learn

  • Soils-related issues affect a surprising percentage of construction cost-related issues—understand how to determine if your case involves one or more of those issues
  • Remember to consider soil in your analysis—take away a better understanding of the relationships between soils and the parties in the project.
  • Better understand soil-related issues and learn how to indicate or exonerate the different parties in your case
  • Have a better understanding on when to consult with a geotechnical engineer with construction experience regarding your case
